Jake's Boutique

Valentine's Day. Started with Jake's first swim lesson. It was great. He was a hot with the instructor and pretty much knew what to do already in terms of what he learned. We've already done the stuff alone, but I guess it's a process. We went to Macy's prior to to the swim and he got some new clothes. He got a Puma track jacket that reminded me of the Beastie Boys, so we played some in the car. It was great, he danced.

Lunch with Lina and to the zoo for some play time. Mom and I went for dinner so he spent the evening with Nana. Looks as if he had Pizza Hut for dinner (the empty box is on the table).

He's a bit sick, so he's a little fussy.

Friday? The 13th?

Not a scary day today.

Before picking up Jake I decided to take a jaunt up Koko Crater instead of 24 Hour Fitness. Enjoyed it thoroughly and was in a great mood whenst I picked up the Jakers. We went over to mom's work where Jake had someone to play with. Dilly happened to be there so they had a blast pouring water out of the bubblier, chasing each other, eating tangerines, and giggling all over the shop.

We called Su-hee and Peter before leaving and decided to head over for some dinner and drinks. Jake and Lina had a blast playing with all Lina's toys. All was good on this FT13th.

On the Pot

Although Jake is a little early to potty train, it's clear at this point that he's got the idea down. He points to his okole and then gets his training toilet. Sure, he puts the removable tray on his head and laughs, but he knows he supposed to pee in it too. It'll all come together soon.

Tired and the house is in disarray at the moment due to kitchen renovations. Nana told me I was in a bad mood, didn't think I was, but maybe I'm the fussy one today not Jake. Bad day of teaching too. Better turn in.

Jamppongi

Weird flash flood/heavy downpour this afternoon. We planned to go get new toilets after picking up mom, but the weather was too freaky, so we went for jamppong and jajang instead. Nana had ulmyon and seemed to like it. Jake was still a bit fussy at bed time but OK otherwise. Mom's trying to teach him to potty train so he walks around sans diaper a lot. Today he decided to do dookie's on the floor. Mom cleaned it up.

What's the Fussquency Jaketh?

Slow day. Picked up Jake and he slept right away in the car. A late nap always means a late and fussy evening. It was indeed such. Dinner and play, but antsy and fussy about a lot. Wanted to take all his toys out at bedtime, when I told him no, he squealed. It was like this the whole evening. Oh well, such the life of a tot.

Return of the Fuss

Tired as heck tonight. Jake woke at 4AM this morning and didn't go back to sleep. We're all pretty tired, not sure if that is why Jake was fussy today. It's ironic that last night I wrote how I never lose my temper with him. I almost did today. We were at Big City Diner with nana and he was squirmy and fussy from the time we sat down. I picked him up and he refused to sit back down. I decided to vacate and take him for a walk. I didn't eat (got it to go) although I was hungry. I was angry, but I reminded myself that he doesn't really know better at this point and that he is way more reasonable 90% of the time than vice versa.
Sleep.

Kitchen Klear

As per all Sundays, Jake had Ohana Music this AM. Last week he made us proud by sharing with the other kids in the class. This week he did the same and we couldn't have been prouder again. During the instrument play-along-with-the-song segment, rather than play with instruments, he picked up everything around him and handed them to one of the moms. He must have given her 10 things throughout the duration of the song. After the class he offered hugs to the teacher and a couple of friends. One of the moms said "He squeezes!" when Jake hugged her.

As I write this I'm thinking that you, the reader, are rolling your eyes, thinking to yourself that I'm gushing about something that most kids do. True, but I've never felt this kind of pride for a child, someone who is, I guess, a reflection of oneself. It's really nuts. Yes, he fusses, and yes, he's stubborn sometimes, but he never makes me lose my temper or get mad. He seems to know something. Gushing or not, it feels good.

In the afternoon the fam spent several hours clearing out the kitchen making room for the new one that will be built this week, hopefully.
