100

Wow, hundredth post. Doesn't feel like it; suppose that's a good thing.

Again going to let the pictures speak for themselves today. It's late and I'm thinking about tomorrow's camping trip. I may not be able to post for the next 2 days as we'll be on the North Shore, sleeping next to the ocean. I'll post as to what the activities were whenst we return.

Today I went to the UH baseball game. As such, I picked up Jake early so we could spend some time together at the park before I went. We went to mom's work where we actually spent an hour before she finished. I went to the game and they went home. The park was great; we played and I took him for a walk on my shoulders around the natatorium. I have a cold and had to spit; he tried mimicking me making spitting noises in my ear. Loved it. Towards the end he kept whispering in my ear "Omma." Don't know why, but I loved it.

Korean Berry

Gonna make it a quick one this PM because I'm uploading his bi-monthly pix. Good day, took him for a walk when we got home down by the pool while mom made dinner. He's been sleeping incredibly well as of late. Actually asked to go to bed tonight. LOVE it.

Swimming in the Rain

No rain today, but there was swimming. Picked up the Jakers a little early and headed to the pool before dinner. Nana made scrumptious mac and cheese that probably had enough calories for a week, but what the heck, it was amazingly delish.

When I went to pick up the Jakers, the babysitter told me she thought Jake bit another kid earlier in the day. She showed me the bite mark on his arm. She said she wasn't sure, but thought it was Jake. She's told us before that he bites, but he's never done that with us. In the past weeks I've had the chance to see the other child play and he's very aggressive. One day last week when we dropped him off after the dox appointment he started hitting Jake in the face over and over again as soon as he sat down. I kept saying "No!" thinking the babysitter would stop it, but she didn't. Sujin and I have talked about this, and to be honest, I'm pretty uncomfortable about the whole situation. I don't want to come off as "Jake is right, every other kid is wrong." I really don't. I'm sure Jake is aggressive at times as well. He has never, however, bit us nor have we seen him bite another child. Something to think about, something to worry about.

Oh, Bulsang Korea

Stayed up late last night watching the WBC Kor-Jpn game. Last thing I felt like doing was blogging. Bummed they lost, but I was also tired as heck. Jake only saw the beginning. Too late for him to stay up watching.

The day was good. I picked him up early and we went to Kap'iolani. I got him a smoothie, but, strangely he wasn't interested. We just hung down by the beach and walked around. Enjoyable time it was.

The big news of the day is that he was "accepted" into the UH childcare program. There's usually a waiting list, so I was surprised to get word that he got in for Fall (August 24 ironically). We're excited. I mean, it's pre-school, but we're still excited.

Shiftful When He’s Swimless

No blog last night. Mom and I went to see a k-pop concert with Peter and Sunhee. We didn’t pick up the Jakers until 10. He was awake when we arrived at the babysitter’s place. He was probably waiting for us to get there before sleeping. Sujin swears he was angry when we dropped him off. Not so sure about that, but it’s possible.

The day was fun. In the early AM we went to the KCC farmer’s market. He had no swimming due to a scheduled day off. We didn’t know that until we got there, but it was cool; he slept in the car on the way home. We hung out at home until we left at 3.

Today was a typically fabulous Sunday. Last Ohana Music of the semester in the AM. It was weird b/c there were only 3 other families there. Usually it’s like 10. Nice though b/c it was intimate and I think everyone there got into it a bit more than they would have otherwise. There was an atmosphere of finality to the class, which translated into a carefree feeling that was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone there. Jake even got into it in terms of the dancing part. He usually wanders, but today he was really involved. He danced all around and by the end of the class all the kids were playing a running and falling game. It was kind of sad; I think everyone, including the teacher, wanted to stay and hang out, just watch the kids play. Jake is fond of the teacher (Stephanie) actually. During the “sleep song” he went over and climbed on her stomach. He doesn’t usually do that. He’s not shy, but he’s timid in the sense that he has to get a feel for the person before he commits to doing something like sitting on their stomach.
Afters we had a hamburger at Teddy’s, then came home for a nap and rest followed by some cleaning. Nana came over after work and we went to the park for some playground fun. Afters we got hungry and had kalbi. A fabulous, fabulous day with our Jakers.
