Me & Mrs. Jake

No blog last night b/c I went to the baseball game. Jake went to Sunhee and Lina's to hang out. I took The Bus home so I didn't get in until late.

Today was all me an Jake. Mom had to work all day, so it was just the two of us from 6 to 6. We took it slow in the AM, I made Jake's breaky (figs, cheese, and tomatoes) and I had a grilled cheese. He was restless so we went to see nana at work before his swim lesson. He fell asleep on the way so he didn't get to say hi. Although it was a rainy day, we went to his swim lesson regardless. The pool is heated and he really likes the water, so we went. There were only 3 out of about 7 kids there, so it was nice. He really is good in the water. Afters we went to see mom, ate lunch and headed home. He slept on the way, but only for a short while. As mom was on her way home, we went shopping for dins, came home, he had a bathers with mom, we ate and he slept.

Oh Wait..he had a haircut too! He looks awesome. He's so easy in the chair too. He just sits there, staring at everyone.

Good day.

Oh, The Pain

The picture doesn’t tell the story of today. It was actually a Jake and me day in the afternoon because mom took the other car. We spent it together, first at the house, where we cleaned and read a book. At one point Jake decided he wanted to call mom, but I was using the phone so he went through the stages that eventually led him to the tears you see here: longing eyes; incredulousness that I would deny him the phone; crocodile tears; full on wail. What happened next was interesting. I told him, “Jake, I’m using the phone, you’ll have to wait. Can you wait?”

He replied (sans tears), “Ung (yes).”

I said, “Can you stop now?”

“Ung.”

"Can you hug daddy, say sorry?” He hugged me and that was that.

I hope I handled it the right way.

Later we took a walk to Safeway where we met mom. We brought sushi home for dins. Slept well.

Environmentally Speaking

Bad day/good day. Ate dinner with Bill and Mrs.Chapman at Macaroni Grill, but things were weird from the beginning. The table was screwed up so we had to wait. Jake was way energetic and fussy all night. Things just steamrolled from there as they do when the environment is right. After dinner nana had to go home, we wanted to stay, she was worried about fining her way home, etc. etc. To top it off, me and mom got in an argument about the environment/global warming/climate change. Regardless of the details, I hate when we do that because we do it in front of Jakey and I don't want him to have to hear it.

Sorry Jakey. We love you.

Ch-ch-chaching

Definitely some changes going on with the Jakers. I know I wrote about this yesterday, but it was even more noticeable today. I think the best way to describe it is that he's got some things figured out, that he's more aware of the world around him and how to react to it. It's fascinating to watch.

He had a good day. Nana picked him up at 2:00 and took him to the aquarium. Although he was sleepy, he undoubtedly had a blast. He loves hanging out with her. He says her name occasionally out of the blue. He'll point a the door and say "nana!" like she's there waiting to come in. Aware.

Big City with nana. He had mac and cheese.

New Deal

Been noticing some changes in the Jakers lately. He's getting mature pretty quick. Words are coming; he's starting develop a distinct personality. He also looks a little older. It's cute and I love seeing the little developments in him. He makes my heart warm.

Nothing particularly special today. Picked up mom, came home, ate chicken for dinner. Not special, but it was, as always, great just hanging with Jake, watching him eat, watching him play.

Kapiolani Kid

No blog yesterday b/c I didn't get home until 10:30. Mom watched Jakers while I went to Kona to hang with AMST folks. Pretty full day yesterday: swimming, hanging out, dinner with Lina and fam. Good day. (Pic above from yesterday, below from today.)

Today was just as good. No Ohana Music today (scheduled by them), so we went to the park to hang with aunties and uncles. Jakers had a blast with Jon and Angela. Jon is great with Jake. He's going to make a good dad someday.
Dinner with nana at home. He hadn't seen her in a couple of days and was over the moon about it (seeing her today, not that he hadn't seen her in a few).
