Jusy Bake

Full day. I'm tired so it will be a thumbnail version of the days events...
1. Woke at 7:00. Late for Jake. He was cute. After I put him in bed with us, he promptly got out and went to his room. He came back with his bag of mini books. He gave is each one and we all read together laying in bed. Perfect.
2. Mom suggested a walk so we went to get coffee. Jake wanted to bring his alphabet caterpillar. He pulled it all the way to Hawaii Kai Drive.
3. Errands.
4. Dinner at Hee Hing for Val's bday. It was kinda my bday too. Jake as happy and a real ham with everyone. He loved it. Mom loved it. I loved it. Sleep.

Splash

Friday. The good day.

Picked up Jake about 3:30, too early to go get mom so we headed to Ala Moana again. We hit the Magic Island side today. He walked toward the water as soon as I put him down. When we reached the shore he pointed at the water and said something while making twisty motions with his wrist. He obviously likes the water and got a bit fussy when we started waling toward the bathroom (I had to pee).

On the way back to the car, a woman and what seemed to be her daughters and/or nieces saw Jake (and he saw them). After a daughter asked his age (18 months), the woman said "That's some size!" and the other women commented on his cuteness. This is par for the course for EVERYONE who meets him on the street, or in the park, etc. I'm not saying this b/c everyone says he's cute (he is), but b/c everyone seems to think he's so big. I see him as normal, but I guess he is pretty big.

Once, Twice

We were on the way home. Suijn got a phone call from Sun-hee and before we knew it we were on a playground with Lina. It was an unexpected side trip that ended up being very welcomed. The playtime led to dinner for the second time at Chun chon dalkkabi this week. Jake enjoyed kalguksu and mom and dad enjoyed 6 different kinds of chicken.

Immediately after picking up the Jakers, I took him to Ala Moana for a jaunt on the beach. We strolled (where Jake wanted to go) and threw rocks in the water. Loved it. Love him.

SUP

J and Seong Heui left today. Their flight was at 12 midnight so I spent the afternoon with them. J and I did stand up paddling at Ala Moana. Although it was cool and cloudy, it was still a lot of fun. Afters we got Jake. Picking him up is always incredible. He always has a huge smile when he sees me and he runs to the door with his arms wide open. It's pretty incredible.
Nana watched him during dinner. She told us that he was fussy and that he wanted to just sit next to her on the couch. When he does this he falls asleep next to her. This is odd because he's never done this with us. He's definitely aware of who the people are around him. He's smarter than we think in terms of getting what he wants from certain people in his life.

Spicy

I realized today that I should have written more last night about Jake. While we were watching TV he was looking at an old photo album. He kept pointing out pictures of me and then pointed AT me saying "appa!" (daddy!). It seemed like a breakthrough moment. He was making associations between one dimensional pix and me. These little things make me unbelievably proud. I love him and look forward to all the future proud moments he's sure to provide us.

Today we met J and Seoung Huei's family for the last time at Chun chon dalkalbi. We feasted and a good time was had by all. Jake ate well and enjoyed his time with new aunties. They seemed genuinely happy to hold him and look after him. As parents, we love seeing other people hold and give affection to Jake. We look forward to those future moments as well.

Pak Mon-day

It's hard to make a Monday special, but Nana and I tried. We picked up Jake and took him to Kapiolani. I took a jog and Nana took him for a walk. Of course she took him to get some food. At least it was healthy fare. Dinner was spaghetti. Jakey thoroughly enjoyed it.

West Side Reprezent

Long, long day yesterday. We did the North Shore tour with J and family followed by a BBQ downstairs. Afters J stayed at ours. We stayed awake until 1:30 drinking and talking so there was nary time to do anything. Couldn’t blog. Took a lot of pix with the real camera.

Today was quiet until 3. We had to pick out new countertops, then we met J and Seong Heui for dinner at Shokudo. A good “solid” (??) day. Jakers was in his usual good mood although he was a bit moodier overall.
