Got to Admit It's Getting

Weird posting the day after the day's events, but the internet is still down at the house and my imbalance is still high. Supposed to finish by the end of next week. REALLY hope they do. Can't wait to get my living space back.

Another tough-ish day with the Jakers. He had a fever in the AM, then it kind of subsided in the afternoon. Didn't give him any medicine in the evening and he slept well. Woke up with no fever. The babysitter today said though that he's crying a lot and won't eat. Man Jakers, if your're reading this, you should know that me and omma are endlessly concerned about your well-being. Seems like everyday we worry about something, but that's not your fault. We just care about you very much .

Even More Discombobulated

Couldn't write at home last night b/c the electrician disconnected the net. Just as well, it was really late by the time I figured that out. Matt came over for pizza and talk story. Stayed til about 10.

Brought the Jakers to the dox in the AM. The night before (Tuesday night) he woke up several times with a high fever. The tylenol didn't seem to be working. I seriously considered taking him to the emergency room b/c the fever hit 104.7. I decided to head down to Safeway to get advil at 2:00 am. When I got back he was sleeping and did so til 6. Had a fever when he woke. Gave him some tylenol and of course at the dox he didn't have a fever, which makes me think the doc was like, "Quit worrying, he doesn't even have a fever." It was bad though and we were justifiably worried. In the end I think he knew that.

So he had a fever all day yesterday, same as the two previous days. The advil works much better, but we're still worried b/c it just won't go away.

On top of all this is the house being a mess. I can't believe how much this makes my inner balance all out of whack.

All Discombobulated

The house is all a mess again because the bathroom is getting done and Jake is sick. He's had a fever all day. Taking him to the docs tomorrow. Hate this feeling. Especially Jake not being himself. Really feels all screwed up.

Playing on the Ground

Took the Jakers to the playground with nana. He's not himself today. Looks really down and has no energy (although he did perk up before bed as usual). Nana took his temp and sure enough, he had a fever. Don't know what temp though, because we kept getting different readings. It was obvious he had a fever though. Mom had dinner with friends and Jake mos definitely missed her. At dinner he pointed at her seat and said "Omma?" At his usual time (about 8:10) he actually asked if he could go to bed by sitting on the floor and making the hands to ear signal for sleeping. I took him in and he said, "Appa...Omma?!" I said she was coming home soon and he went right to sleep. I can't explain how happy these little things make me.

Weird thing at the playground; there were 3 kids there, all looked about 8, obviously siblings. Their dad, I assume he was, was off to the side, sitting on the grass smoking a roll-your-own. The kids immediately engaged us, saying "Can he talk? What's his name?" etc. etc. They then approached him and started petting him, saying "Cute baby" and the like. They then kept asking to hold him, go down the slide with him. I politely said that he needed to learn, so it's best to let him do it himself. Nana was bothered by this. I found it strange, but I'm guessing the parents are the type to actually teach there kids to be limitless and "free." The dad had an accent, at one point the girl (no accent) said she called her dad "Oppa," which is hebrew. Interesting experience. Dude never said a word to us and sucked on his cig the whole time.

The Many Faces of Baseball

Busy, busy day.

The AM seemed quite tame, but things ramped up in the afternoon. Jake woke at 6:00. I was on the couch because he got up sometime in the middle of the night and wanted to sleep with mom. I figure it was the weekend, so it wouldn't matter. When he woke he came into the living room to wake me up. I was so intent on sleeping more. Oh well, such is life with the Jakers.

Tooled around from 6-11. I made grilled cheese for Jake and mom; we read some, cleaned some; had a shower. It was a wonderful morning. At about 11 we went to Costco for mom's work stuff. Afters, we planned to go to the baseball game.

Wasn't quite sure how the baseball game was going to work out considering Jake is a wanderer. It was fine, but he was restless at times. The 'Bows won, so a good time was had by all at Jake's second ever baseball game.

We then went to Peter's work to work out bathroom stuff, Home Depot to pick out appliances, and dinner at Shillawon (kalbi) with Lina and her grandparents. Fabulous Sunday. Couldn't be better.

New notice today: Jake's facial expressions. Today he frowned a lot. Yeah, frowned. It was funny. He looked so deliberate in wanting to let us know he didn't like something. Funny because it was obviously fake. He was doing it purposefully, like he was trying out a new thing he just learned. He took it to the next level a couple of times and cried when it wasn't called for, like when mom ran into the house for a sec (he's never done this). He's obviously testing his own emotions.

He also expanded his vocab. On the way in at the end of the day I grabbed the apples from costco, which I carried into the house with Jake on the other arm. I said once, "Jake, what's this? SA-GWA," which is "apple" in Korean. By the time we reached the building he was saying "ah-pul!" repeatedly. I have no idea where he heard apple before, but he said it over and over, "Ah-pul!!" Blew me away, as he usually does.
